More Geek Than Gay
You got me, your big ol' gay geek host Edward, ranting and rambling about whatever pops into my head while Joseph tries desperately to keep me on track. Opinions, News, Vlog, and whatever entertainment pops into my head at the time. Listen for comic books, sci-fi, horror, table-top games, gay shows, cats, drag queens, author news and much more. Keep your hands inside the interwebs, do not feed the hosts, and children should be accompanied by adults at all times.

Episode 65a - Preliminary Talks About Phoenix Comicon, or It Is Too Much for One Man To Talk About!

Joseph is off tending to Gini, so I again fly solo.  And a day late.  Whatchagunnado?

Anyway, Phoenix ComiCon happened.  Oh boy did it happen.  We are still recovering from it.  I give you bits of Con goodness, like my lovely lovely Spider-goyle, Kaiju gifts, nice ladies in full dresses with books, and a panel I may or may not talk about.
And the short version of talking to Mike Grell and Michael Golden.
And Andy Kubert and the Kubert School of Graphic Art.  (I may have dropped an f-bomb or five during that part.)

I try to save the rest for when Joseph can join me.

I do have a couple rumors going around, one about Star Trek and the other about the DC Movie franchise.

Also, if anyone is playing RPGs, hear my cry.

I thank you all for hanging with me this week, and we look forward to catching you next time as well!

This week's comic book storytime is 1977 5 Star Super-Hero Spectacular
How To Prevent a Flash, by Cary Bates, Irv Novick and Frank McLaughlin

Episode 64a - Prepping For The Con Part 1, or We Have An Announcement!

Before we go any further, if you are a fan of Neil Gaiman's characters or of the late Techno Comics, we have news for you.  And if you know anyone who fits that bill, let them know so they can hear the news here also!

Enough teaser.

Joseph and I find out how much cats love podcasting.  Meanwhile, we tell you all about the upcoming Neil Patrick Harris autobiography, Daredevil on Netflix, the Wil Wheaton Project on SyFy, and cover some books on our shelves.  There is also some good news for those of you who are looking forward to Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, but would still like to just try it out before spending all that money.

And what kind of gays would we be if we didn't weigh in on the whole RuPaul thing?

All this while gearing up for Phoenix ComiCon next week!

Also, for those keeping track, this week's Comic Book Story Time is The Sensational Sentinels in "Into the Lair of the Mind-Bender" by S. O'Shaughessy and Sam Grainger.

Thank you all for listening, and keep telling your friends about us.  We are starting to spread world-wide.
As always, we look forward to your comments.

Episode 63a - We've Got Fan Replies, or Why Is Mickey Leaving Minnie

Hey!
It is graduation time.  So Joseph and I reminisce about out 8th grade graduations and what we can remember through the haze of years.  Fortunately we move on before old age sets in.

I mention some Doctor Who casting news I have found, with much speculation on the Master (and hopefully the Rani).  Then onto our ongoing impressions of the anthology series Metal Hurlant Chronicles.  Listen for Joseph's minor meltdown.

And RuPaul has a winner!  Who is she?  What do we think?  We tell you!

Then a quick update of Phoenix ComiCon, some last minute She-Hulk and Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition news, an off-the-cuff comparison of Phoenix and Australian desert environments, and of course other stuff...

There also may be a contest, or two.

For Comic Book Storytime, we have the Flash in "A Flash in the Dam".

Thank you all for your continued support and we look forward to your comments!

Episode 62b - Joseph Vlogs, or Mo-su-raa!

Woot!

Joseph is back from California, and I think he has sobered up!  He gives us the low-down on his travels with Gini Koch, which includes the book tour, tourist traps and fine dining.

He has a lot to say, so I let him pretty much go, although I give my two-cents review of the new Godzilla movie.  And a bonus story about our wayward girl, Karen!  All while being visited by a different cat than usual.

For the Comic Book Storytime, it is the debut of Mary Marvel in Captain Marvel Adventures #18 by Otto Binder and Marc Swayze.  Get some helpful hints of what to do with babies, living or dead!

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to your comments.

Episode 62a - Geeking In The Kitchen, or Joss Whedon Didn't Do That

Still flying solo while Joseph is off getting drunk with Gini in California.

I am making my breakfst before work and getting down to nerd-business.  I give a run-down of some shows coming up on ABC, such as Agent Carter and Galavant (while I accidentally get a little wonky with my Whedon credits), then a quick opinion about the upcoming Peeps movie, and first impressions of Marvel's "Original Sin", DC's "Future's End" and Dynamite's "Chaos".  And you get a helpful cooking hint and other stuff.

And I get to fan feedback!  You betcha!

For Comic Book StoryTime, I give you Giant Size Man-Thing #1 by Steve Gerber and Mike Ploog.

Let's keep it growing!
I look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your continued support!

Episode 60b - In A Hurry After The Con, or They're Always After Me LepreCons!

Joseph is doing the book tour with Gini, so I fly solo.

I spent my weekend at the SciFi/Fantasy convention, LepreCon 40.

I was running late for work, but I still gave you all a quick run-down of the weekend, including the impromtu High School reunion.

Thank you all for your continued support!

Episode 61a - Stuff Going On, or Can He Swing From A Web

This is the last episode with Joseph for ten days, so we better get to it!

First off we talk about our week, but it doesn't take long before we attack some topics.  I talk about the new developments in Spider-man comics with the return of the true Peter Parker.  There is also talk of SciFi's Metal Hurlant series.  And my thoughts on the comic book series Rat Queens and Saga.

Then we attack RuPaul's Drag Race and The Face - one has a winner and the other is sitting at the finish line.

I share with you all my upcoming events - first my interview on the Blog Goddess May 8th at 9:00 pm EST - http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thebloggoddess/2014/05/09/blog-goddess-radio--guest-edward-pulley - you can catch the episode there later, if you miss it live.
Then there is LepreCon 40 in Mesa this weekend.  I have my LGBT Panel that I hope goes well, and I am also on the Podcast Panel, which will be broadcast live also!
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/kwodradio/2014/05/09/live-from-leprecon-2014--panel-on-podcasting

whew!

Not to be outdone, Joseph and Gini are doing the book tour in California for TEN DAYS!  Oh My!
The schedule is here - http://ginikoch.blogspot.com/

And this weeks Comic Book Storytime is January 1981's Marvel Team up starring Spider-man and Tigra!

Episode 60b - Much Ado About Nothing, or Don't Podcast While Drunk

Not saying that we were drunk.  But we were podcasting.  And...well, you decide.

Anyway, Joseph and I have our friend Kim join us.

It was a long day, with my graduation walk earlier that day and Joseph helping Gini out with her new book launch.  And it was Free Comic Book Day!
And we try talking about shows like RuPaul's Drag Race and The Face.
And cats everywhere!

We have a little section of Gini Koch explaining her hat - you will want to turn this up, because the volume is really low on this segment, sorry.
And speaking of technical stuff, yup, this ends abruptly - it is not your imagination.

For Storytime, we have a Lois Lane in "The Riddle of the Runaway Rocket" from Superman Family 198!

Thank you all for your support and we look forward to hearing from you.
