More Geek Than Gay
You got me, your big ol' gay geek host Edward, ranting and rambling about whatever pops into my head while Joseph tries desperately to keep me on track. Opinions, News, Vlog, and whatever entertainment pops into my head at the time. Listen for comic books, sci-fi, horror, table-top games, gay shows, cats, drag queens, author news and much more. Keep your hands inside the interwebs, do not feed the hosts, and children should be accompanied by adults at all times.

Whatcha doin?  Me, I'm podcastin'.

I have been in a mood lately, so I have been absent. I try to explain, but the short story is that I was a bit beyond cranky.

But I am here now, and that's what matters, right?

I share some thoughts on Pokemon Go and some classic golden age comics presented by PS Artbooks.  Oh yeah, I also saw a movie or two...little things called AbFab The Movie and Star Trek Beyond.

And for those who enjoy sodas, Pop Shoppe Lime Rickey!

Thank you for all your support and I am looking forward to getting back with you all again soon!

Dang!  I am back, and the sound seems to be working much better this time!

First, congrats to Jeff and Marcy on their wedding.  Woot!

Now back to business at hand.

I check out the difference between Loot Crate, Nerd Block, and RetroBox.  Then there is some comic book talk about Black Panther, Superman, and a couple other titles.  And I finish off with Toxic Slime Soda and way too many snacks.

And dang it, don't forget to check me out on Dumbbells and Dragons this week.  He's so darn positive and bubbly.  Like Diet Dr. Pepper with a cupful of sugar.

I promised you that we hadn't podfaded!

I had to take time away from personal reasons but also to help figure out what needed to be done to get this back on track.

Joseph is off at San Diego Comic Con, so it is me flying solo.  Just a quickie to get you guys up to speed and test some things out.
I chat about some tv shows, taste a new soda, and give you a little sample of the lovely Harp Twins.

Thank you for hanging around and for your patience while we get this back on track.

So, this is late, and it even became 24 hours later because of computer issues.  Again.  Grrr.

Go See It!  I will try to tell you why.

And I have found some collected comic books that are making me super super happy.

It is Wednesday, and Joseph is off helping Joshua Tree.  So we all get to chat again!

Part of that is catching you up on the latest events in my life as they have affected the show.
This also leads me to talk a little about writing.  I will recommend a couple websites to you aspiring writers, which will be in links section of the description.
Then I try to touch upon our homework, but I don't have my computer near me, so it is just a few more embarrassing stories from my life.
And Cake or Pie?

The closing music comes to us thanks to Patrick of Screamqueenz.  He brought up a great sounding show, and I found a clip of it - "Don't let the Bedbugs Bite" from Bedbugs!!! the Musical.  Check it out if you are in New York.

Fighting with the computer again.  Dang it.

Anyway, Joseph is off to Joshua Tree, so it is time for us to chat.

I let you guys know that I did my homework and tell you about one of the peole who I credit with making me who I am today.

Then, did you know that some clowns are getting in a tizzy about American Horror Story having a killer clown?  Yeah, there is that.

And finally, it is time for the new homework, and this time I want you all to share with everyone an embarrassing moment that you brought upon yourself.  Let's own it and recognize it for the schadenfruede (German word for the delight at anothers misfortune) that it maybe even brings to ourselves now.  I even start you all off with one.

For the bonus closing music, I present you with "Killer Klowns From Outer Space" by the Dickies.

Anyway, this is a follow up on our self-image episode.  I thank you all for your input, and am really glad that it is still reaching people out there.  And in gratitude, I give you homework.
Sweet glorious homework.

I also squee over the new Monster cereals being available and wonder where Weird Tales magazine went to.

As a bonus, I give you "Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe" by Whale.  I don't know why, other than I just like the song.

Thank you so much for all the support, and we look forward to catching you all tomorrow.

Episode 82, Sept. 30 2014 - What To Say About Doctor Who, or Joseph Scrambles With Disney

Another corrupted file, another re-recording.
But I think I might have fixed it, so I hope this is the last time it happens.

We dig into the latest episode of Doctor Who, what little there was to it.  And I give a quick side-trip down the road of the new Fantastic Four Movie.

Then Joseph gets smug thinking that I am going to ask him the same question I did when we first recorded, but instead I ask him to list his top 5 Recommended Disney (live action) movies.  You get his top 5, plus a little bit of extra recommendations.

And for our super-supporter Terry (who watches instead of listens, so she won't hear the song choice, but...) I close out with some classic disco.

Thank you so much for all the support, and we look forward to catching you all tomorrow.

Episode 81, Sept 29th, 2014 - Reality Competition Catch-up, or We Already Had An Episode 80

We recorded an episode.
It was corrupted.
So we recorded another one!
We love you all that much!

What do we talk about?
British Geography
Phoenix Comicon's Fan Fest announcement
The Flash Storm in Phoenix
The latest on Project Runway
The latest on Face-Off
And a Happy Birthday to my sister, Betsy!

For some reason, The Maltese Falcon was in my head.  And for some reason, that made me think of "Cuban Pete" by Desi Arnez.  And For some reason, that is what you get.

Thank you so much for all the support, and we look forward to catching you all tomorrow.

Joseph and I get together, along with our new house-member, Mr. Biggie.  He doesn't say much, but you will feel his presense, trust me.

We tell you what we can't talk about yet, and then dig into Gotham and this cute (and bizarrely touching) GE commercial we saw.  (By the way, "Crispus Allen" is the other character name I could not recall.)

Since we added a new cat to the dojo (yes, it is a dojo of cats, becuase they are all little destructive ninjas), what better to treat you with than Sir Tom Jones doing "What's New PussyCat?"

Episode 78, Sept. 24, 2014 - Thoughts On Self Image, or Where Are The Ugly Gymnasts?

It is Wednesday, so Joseph is off helping out Joshua Tree.  So, what is a guy to do?
Sit around and talk about his looks, of course.
Sadly, it is less vain than it sounds.

Do you think that nerds have a bigger problem with self-image?  Do you think that the things we are drawn to are part of the problem?

I also give you a bit of fun from the musical [title of show] with the song "Die, Vampire, Die!"

I thank you all for your support and your thoughts, and hope to catch you all tomorrow!

Joseph ran off to run some errands, so I decided to tackle this recent theme I have noticed - hating on The Big Bang Theory becuase it is supposedly bad stereotyping.

Feel free to give me your two cents on this topic, or on whatever else floats your boat.

As a bonus, I present the song "That Makes You Homosexual" by One Orientation.
Enjoy!

Episode 74, September 19th, 2014 - Getting Breakfast While Discussing The Doctor, or I Told You Joseph Was Still Alive

Joseph is a busy busy man, so we had to record while driving to go get some grub.  Don't worry - this time he drove and I held the 'camera'.

We catch up on the latest episode of Doctor Who, about which we have different views.  And then you finally get to hear what he thought of the America's Got Talent Finale!

Then, as a special bonus to you all, and in honor of eating Mexican food for breakfast, I bring you the beautiful song "Hijo de la Luna" by Mecano.  And then I give a breif synopsis of what went down in the song for those who are not so Spanish-savvy.

Episode 73, Sept 18th 2014 - No Spoilers, or Look At Me Hitting Day Two!

Joseph got called out for Joshua Tree duties, so I rearranged my notes and here we go

First, a thank you for everyone checking in on us!

Then I talk about America's Got Talent without talking about the winner, I hope.  And Patrick of Screamqueenz had given a second movie for homework, so what the heck, I talk about the Australian horror/comedy, 100 Bloody Acres.

"He wants my potassium!"

A bonus song by previous America's Got talent contestant Butterscotch, who I hope gets an album out there someday.

Thank you all and we look forward to your comments.

[darn it - an error in the file.  Let's try this again.]

We've been gone a while.  So, yeah, there's that.

But we are back now.  And refocused.  Like a daily podcast refocus.  (although that might take a week or two to get up to speed - we shall see).

For right now, I am here to catch you up with why we have been missing and what I think we are doing with the future.

Also, taking a prompt from Patrick of Screamqueenz, I give a quick review of the 2013 movie, "Odd Thomas".  And then I tell you about my night with Miles Davis Moody of Rupaul's Drag Race.

I was off with work and school, so Joseph took over for me.

But he gave me a list.
Let's see, he said he talked about Gini Koch and Marsheila Rockwell, the World Cup, and some TV stuff - Arrow, America'a Got Talent, Extant, and So You Think You Can Dance.

So...we will all find out together, I guess.

Episode 66a - Phoenix ComiCon Talk Is Done, or Joseph is Back And Boy Are His Arms Tired

Joseph is back!

He was off at Phoenix ComiCon and then with Gini Koch, but now he is back.

And tired.

And maybe has allergies.  Or a cold.

But this episode is basically all about catching up with him.

If you stick it out, there is also a little snippet from a panel at Phoenix ComiCon, which features Gini Koch, Jim Butcher, and other authors talking about humor in writing.

And for Comic Book Storytime, issue #19 of Ms Marvel, by Chris Claremont and Carmine Infantino.  Ms. Marvel meets up with Captain Marvel!  No, not that Captain Marvel.  Nor that one.  And definitely not that one.  You'll find out.

And on Friday, we launch Math Monkeys - mathmonkeys.libsyn.com/webpage
and Four Color StoryTime - fourcolorstorytime.libsyn.com/webpage

Episode 65b - More Talk Of Phoenix ComiCon, or Where My Furries At?

Trying out new equipment, and Joseph is still not here.  That catches you up to speed here.

I know you are all curious about Phoenix ComiCon, so I launch into my schedule.

But first I give my thoughts on Hotel Transylvania and Creatures from the Pink Lagoon - the latter of which you can thank Patrick of ScreamQueenz for.

Then it is all about Phoenix ComiCon.  Or at least my experience with Phoenix ComiCon.  Some Andy Kubert, Fon Davis, Gini Koch, Stan Lee, Jordan Summers, Delilah Dawson and others...and you get to find out why I am looking for furries.
And I talk about not talking about two panels.

By the way, I am still waiting for those RPG stories.

This weeks Comic Book Storytime is Wonder Woman in "The Riddle of the Talking Lion" from Sensation Comics 18.  1943, gang!

Thank you all for everything we look forward to hearing from you all...

Episode 65a - Preliminary Talks About Phoenix Comicon, or It Is Too Much for One Man To Talk About!

Joseph is off tending to Gini, so I again fly solo.  And a day late.  Whatchagunnado?

Anyway, Phoenix ComiCon happened.  Oh boy did it happen.  We are still recovering from it.  I give you bits of Con goodness, like my lovely lovely Spider-goyle, Kaiju gifts, nice ladies in full dresses with books, and a panel I may or may not talk about.
And the short version of talking to Mike Grell and Michael Golden.
And Andy Kubert and the Kubert School of Graphic Art.  (I may have dropped an f-bomb or five during that part.)

I try to save the rest for when Joseph can join me.

I do have a couple rumors going around, one about Star Trek and the other about the DC Movie franchise.

Also, if anyone is playing RPGs, hear my cry.

I thank you all for hanging with me this week, and we look forward to catching you next time as well!

This week's comic book storytime is 1977 5 Star Super-Hero Spectacular

Episode 64a - Prepping For The Con Part 1, or We Have An Announcement!

Before we go any further, if you are a fan of Neil Gaiman's characters or of the late Techno Comics, we have news for you.  And if you know anyone who fits that bill, let them know so they can hear the news here also!

Enough teaser.

Joseph and I find out how much cats love podcasting.  Meanwhile, we tell you all about the upcoming Neil Patrick Harris autobiography, Daredevil on Netflix, the Wil Wheaton Project on SyFy, and cover some books on our shelves.  There is also some good news for those of you who are looking forward to Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, but would still like to just try it out before spending all that money.

And what kind of gays would we be if we didn't weigh in on the whole RuPaul thing?

All this while gearing up for Phoenix ComiCon next week!

Also, for those keeping track, this week's Comic Book Story Time is The Sensational Sentinels in "Into the Lair of the Mind-Bender" by S. O'Shaughessy and Sam Grainger.

Thank you all for listening, and keep telling your friends about us.  We are starting to spread world-wide.
As always, we look forward to your comments.

Episode 63a - We've Got Fan Replies, or Why Is Mickey Leaving Minnie

Hey!
It is graduation time.  So Joseph and I reminisce about out 8th grade graduations and what we can remember through the haze of years.  Fortunately we move on before old age sets in.

I mention some Doctor Who casting news I have found, with much speculation on the Master (and hopefully the Rani).  Then onto our ongoing impressions of the anthology series Metal Hurlant Chronicles.  Listen for Joseph's minor meltdown.

And RuPaul has a winner!  Who is she?  What do we think?  We tell you!

Then a quick update of Phoenix ComiCon, some last minute She-Hulk and Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition news, an off-the-cuff comparison of Phoenix and Australian desert environments, and of course other stuff...

There also may be a contest, or two.

For Comic Book Storytime, we have the Flash in "A Flash in the Dam".

Episode 62b - Joseph Vlogs, or Mo-su-raa!

Woot!

Joseph is back from California, and I think he has sobered up!  He gives us the low-down on his travels with Gini Koch, which includes the book tour, tourist traps and fine dining.

He has a lot to say, so I let him pretty much go, although I give my two-cents review of the new Godzilla movie.  And a bonus story about our wayward girl, Karen!  All while being visited by a different cat than usual.

For the Comic Book Storytime, it is the debut of Mary Marvel in Captain Marvel Adventures #18 by Otto Binder and Marc Swayze.  Get some helpful hints of what to do with babies, living or dead!

Episode 62a - Geeking In The Kitchen, or Joss Whedon Didn't Do That

Still flying solo while Joseph is off getting drunk with Gini in California.

I am making my breakfst before work and getting down to nerd-business.  I give a run-down of some shows coming up on ABC, such as Agent Carter and Galavant (while I accidentally get a little wonky with my Whedon credits), then a quick opinion about the upcoming Peeps movie, and first impressions of Marvel's "Original Sin", DC's "Future's End" and Dynamite's "Chaos".  And you get a helpful cooking hint and other stuff.

And I get to fan feedback!  You betcha!

For Comic Book StoryTime, I give you Giant Size Man-Thing #1 by Steve Gerber and Mike Ploog.

Let's keep it growing!
I look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your continued support!

Joseph is doing the book tour with Gini, so I fly solo.

I spent my weekend at the SciFi/Fantasy convention, LepreCon 40.

Episode 61a - Stuff Going On, or Can He Swing From A Web

This is the last episode with Joseph for ten days, so we better get to it!

First off we talk about our week, but it doesn't take long before we attack some topics.  I talk about the new developments in Spider-man comics with the return of the true Peter Parker.  There is also talk of SciFi's Metal Hurlant series.  And my thoughts on the comic book series Rat Queens and Saga.

Then we attack RuPaul's Drag Race and The Face - one has a winner and the other is sitting at the finish line.

I share with you all my upcoming events - first my interview on the Blog Goddess May 8th at 9:00 pm EST - http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thebloggoddess/2014/05/09/blog-goddess-radio--guest-edward-pulley - you can catch the episode there later, if you miss it live.
Then there is LepreCon 40 in Mesa this weekend.  I have my LGBT Panel that I hope goes well, and I am also on the Podcast Panel, which will be broadcast live also!
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/kwodradio/2014/05/09/live-from-leprecon-2014--panel-on-podcasting

whew!

Not to be outdone, Joseph and Gini are doing the book tour in California for TEN DAYS!  Oh My!
The schedule is here - http://ginikoch.blogspot.com/

And this weeks Comic Book Storytime is January 1981's Marvel Team up starring Spider-man and Tigra!

Thank you all for your support and we look forward to hearing from you.

Episode 60b - Much Ado About Nothing, or Don't Podcast While Drunk

Not saying that we were drunk.  But we were podcasting.  And...well, you decide.

Anyway, Joseph and I have our friend Kim join us.

It was a long day, with my graduation walk earlier that day and Joseph helping Gini out with her new book launch.  And it was Free Comic Book Day!
And we try talking about shows like RuPaul's Drag Race and The Face.
And cats everywhere!

We have a little section of Gini Koch explaining her hat - you will want to turn this up, because the volume is really low on this segment, sorry.
And speaking of technical stuff, yup, this ends abruptly - it is not your imagination.

For Storytime, we have a Lois Lane in "The Riddle of the Runaway Rocket" from Superman Family 198!

Thank you all for your support and we look forward to hearing from you.

Episode 59b - Dogs and Dragqueens, or, Bigger Batteries Would Be Good

I told you I would get joseph in the next episode - although, I think I might be thinking of it as a continuation of the prior episode.  I dunno.  The verdicts is still out on how this is going to play.

Anyway, Joseph is still house-sitting, so we still didn't have a lot of our normal stuff to talk about since he has been been around to read/watch/whatknot.  Heck, I barely got him in for this week's RuPaul's Drag Race.

So we talk about that, and the dogs he is watching, and our anniversary.  Not the show's, but Joseph and I.  Six years now, and no bloodshed yet!

Also got you storytime again.  this week's story is dedicated to Marsheila Rockwell, who is down with a broken toe and also a big Wonder Woman fan.  So a pivotal issue of 70's Wonder Woman it is - issue 212 as a matter of fact.

I thank you all for your continued support and look forward to your comments.

Episode 59 - Flying Without A Net, or Storytime, Which Will Be Shorter Next Time, I Swear

Hey Hey!

Joseph is house-sitting, so it is up to me ot keep things running.
Which I do, but all the things I thought of talking about were things for both of us!  So then what?

I told you about my week, which will make the recipe make sense soon.  Then I go into talking about Phoenix ComiCon and Phoenix Leprecon.  I share some info about Beware the Batman, and i introduce storytime (which in the future I will do without so much introducing...just into the goods, you know!)

Speaking of which, "Unchain My Heart" written by Glenn Herdling and art by M. C. Wyman & Sandu Florea.

I thank you all for being there and look forward to your comments.

Episode 58 - Getting The Geek Back, or Boy, Does Joseph Look Bored

First - Happy Easter!

Joseph and I are back, getting our geek back whether he is ready for it or not.

We of course talk about our week, but then launch into RuPaul's Drag Race, Project Runway Under the Gun, and The Face.
Then I bring it around to another show we just started watching, Metal Hurlant.  I also bring up recent stuff with DC and Marvel Comics, and my thoughts on season 1 of the e-book White Space.

And of course we have to give our thoughts on the recent trans-vocabulary controversy from RuPaul.

We thank you all for your support and we look forward to your comments!

Episode 56 - We Are Filled With Content, or It's Not The Length That Matters, But How Deep It Feels

We are slowly but surely getting caught up on everything, so we of course share it all with you!

After we catch up on Joseph's week, we talk about comics - Archie/Red Circle, God is Dead, Moon Knight, and others - then we go on to books.  Joseph shares his thoughts on Timeless by Alexandra Monir, and then I give my thoughts on self-published authors.  There is an update on The Pink Angels, then Joseph and I give you the lowdown on RuPaul's Drag Race and The Face (and Under The Gun, if you are keeping track).
oh my gosh, there is more...
Let's see...I chat a bit about my future involvement in Phoenix Leprecon and Joseph let's eveeryone know about Gini Koch's mini book tour in May.
phew...
And there are comments, a little sad news about a family pet, some inappropriate talk about stairwells at ASU, and Garfield keeps us in check.

We thank you so much for all your support and we look forward to your comments!

We are both giddy from lack of sleep, but that doesn't keep us away from you, my sweets!

Joseph leads us into RuPaul's Drag Race right off the start, then The Face (anyone actually watch that show?)
I have managed to get in a little stuff, and tell you all about the movie The Pink Angels, comic books Elephantmen and The Second Life of Doctor Mirage, and a bit of Bizzaro fiction.

First, in case I butcher them too badly, I try for greetings in Estonian, Portuguese, Chinese, Filipino, and Australian.  I am even working on the Australian National Anthem!

Joseph is back from the Tucson Book Festival with stories.
We also talk about RuPaul's Drag Race and the finale of King of the Nerds.

Bonus - It Starts With Hades And Ends With Peter Allen, or Fun Death!

A Quick collection of fun songs about everyone's favorite pass-time, DEATH! (We're all dying to do it, you know.)

Joseph has the recording equipment, so I had to make do with my phone for the in between bits, but it is really the music you are here for anyway.

I hope you all enjoy it and come back on Thursday (after listening to Joseph on The Blog Goddess of course) for the latest episode.

Life sometimes catches up with you.

And sometimes it kicks you in the nards.

this is not one of those latter times, but we are still somewhat skipping this week.

A quick reminder of what is coming up, and a lovely parting song.

And we shall be back next Thursday, all rested up and fresh as a flippin' daisy.

Episode 52 - Dragqueenz and Nerdz, or Keeping the Satyr in Mind

It's me and Joseph...I mean, Jagi!

Yup, we figured out how to add more gay...

Anyway, I start things out with some talk about the upcoming Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition release, while the bird and I argue.
Then we go right into it.  Joseph has caught up on some comic books so we chat about that, then we go on to King of the Nerds and RuPaul's Drag Race.  We respond to comments and of course talk about all sorts of other things, like Gini Koch books, Screamqueenz, Archer, my pod-bombing Tina on The Blog-Goddess, and of course a mention of the titularly mentioned Satyr, Scott of the Satyrsphere podcast.
I sneak back in at the end to give a quick opinion/rant about the whole Hugo Awards/Johnathon Ross debacle (a weird technical thing happened there, so it skips in two places...sorry).

Thanks for being here with us, and keep it coming - we will.

And in this one we got a bunch.

Joseph starts off the shenanigans and announces our new sponcor - Compete Magazine!  Also he give us the skinny on a contest where you can win autographed works by Marsheila Rockwell and around 20 other authors!  Good Gravy!

I don't know why, but my mind was completely blank of any news.

But Joseph saves the day!
There is a Super-bowl party which was quite nerd friendly.  And bowling and darts too.  We saw the finale of American Horror Story and hit some Birthday greetings.

Episode 47 - More Nerd Than Geek, or Dig All That Phlegm!

Two things before we get started.

1) I have a cold.

2) Further research into the Geek and Nerd thing indicates that it will be revisiting.  Soon.

Anyway, Joseph is back from California and we talk about a bunch of stuff.  I start out with talk of Isaac Asimov and HIV, then move onto a few thoughts brought to mind by a great piece written by comic book great, Paul Kupperburg.  Listen to the podcast, then read what he wrote here... http://kupps.malibulist.com/2014/01/26/stan-and-jack-and-steve-and-mort-and-jerry-and-joe/ (or vice-versa, I don't think it will matter).
Then Joseph tells us about his trip with Gini Koch.  He brings up the idea os Superfans, which leads me to discuss my thoughts about Nerd Culture Appropriation, based on some weird information I found on the whole Geek vs. Nerd debate.  We discuss what we just saw on American Horror Story and on Rachel vs. Guy.  I mention the anniversary of Dungeons and Dragons,

Joseph then makes sure to remind you all about our upcoming interview on the BlogGoddessradio with Tina Marie Williams - http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thebloggoddess.  It will be live, and you can call in to ask us questions at (347) 838-9025.  Then we address listener feedback!

Episode 46 - Two in One, or Parts Is Parts

well, this is on time-ish.  Or would have been if it had successfully uploaded, darn it!

We thought that we would only be doing part of the episode with Joseph, but then we got the whole deal!

We talked about American Horror Story, Bad Karaoke Contests, Face Off, my problems with Fantasy Fiction, Project Runway, and reviews on works by T. M. Williams and Darryl Dawson.  Oh, and I also take a moment to explain why I am always urging the iTune reviews and ratings.

We respond to comments and remind people that we will be interviewed next week.  What?  You didn't know?  We are being interviewed on The Blog Goddess Radio on January, 30th 2014 at 9:00pm EST (6:00pm PT).  It will be live, and you can even call in with questions.  The number is (347) 838-9025.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Episode 42 - Look Mummy! A Boxing Day Miracle!

oh my lord!  I am starting out with thanking everyone for their support last episode.  We are building back up from the hiatus so quickly, it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside, like a caterpillar in a deep fryer!  Thank you!

Second, we all knew a regular episode wasn't happening for Christmas, right?  You all really should have told me.  So what we get here is a (mostly) family appropriate set of music and clips.  Dawn Davenport ruined family time for everyone, but what do you expect from someone who was eating a meatball sandwich right out in class?

Listen to Honey Cone, Blue Magic (brought to you by Coke, McDonald's, and the good people at Chevrolet), Mame, Akim and Teddy Vann, Snow Miser and Heat Miser, and the lovely Lois Bromfield.

Let's see if it is a normal episode for the New Year, or more clips and music.  You probably know better than i do.

Again, thank you all, and as always, leave comments and questions!

Episode 41 - Adventure Time!

Who knew that there could be so much adventure in podcasting!

Last week, there was a corrupt file, so all the shout outs and recommendations I gave were for naught.
Now this week, I put them all back in!  'Tis the season for giving, right?  So I give you these!

And Joseph gets a chance to catch us all up on his excursions as Gini Koch's personal assistant in California.

Also some talk about "Doctor Who Adventures in Time and Space", "Project Runway" and perhaps a happy nuptial wish to a certain Brony we both know.

Epsiode 40 - Makes Me Wanna Shout!

Joseph was out of town, so I was back doing another episode solo.

I thought I had a nice slew of topics, but instead, I ended up giving some well deserved shout-outs to those people and things out there that I think deserve a little extra attention.  Listen for my stream of consciousness recommendations!

And of course, as wlways, thank you for being here and feel free to leave comments!

Episode D - Putting It Together

Well, this should be the last of the fill-in episodes before the relaunch.

I decide to help you put together a general game kit - the holidays are expensive enough, you might as well save money while having a variety of games to play.  And here are links to games you can play with it...

I saw the Doctor Who special, and decided to endanger my life while driving, just like him!
A little bit more Who-stuff  (and here is the link to "The Five(ish) Doctors - Reboot" - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01m3kfy )
And a couple other things, such as the Icehouse Game System and Almost Human.

After almost a month away, i am rusty.
But I should get my mojo back soon.

In the meantime, here I am catching you up.  Well, it is a lot of me being fascinated on things that I found during the move.

I know I said Joseph and Keran would be here this week, but this one almost slipped by, so it is just me solo again.  but now that we are almost settled, everythign should be getting back to normal pretty quickly.

Episode 36 - The Return. Of Sorts. (reload)

(The file went wonky when uploaded.  Sorry about that.  Let's try again.)

It has been like what, weeks since we have posted?  A month or more?  Dang!
Anyway.
This is a mini episode to let you know that we are coming back.  I ramble on a little about life as of late and things I have found and run into.  It is quick, as I was driving at the time.
Yup.
I was jeopardizing my safety for you all.

We will be back to normal next week, and until then, I hope this at least reminds you why you love us!

Episode 34 - Cheap and Lazy

Another week without Karen.  This time is was my fault - i was so apathetic this week, not wanting to set up the equipment, and so I wasn't even sure there was goign to be an episode this...so I didn't go get her.

I know...bad nerd!  I shall endeavor to not do that again, my friends.

So, how lazy was I?  So lazy that we did this weeks episode using my phone!  Hey, I didn't have to fight with the sound this week.

So, Joseph and I go through a run-down of geekeries on our mind.

Marsheila Rockwell books
Origami Yoda
J. K. Rowling mysteries
Legion of Super-hero disappointments
Marvel Infinity
Incognegro
Batfleck rage
Project Runway
America's Next Top Model
and of course, Twerking.

All from the comfort of bed.

Listen and enjoy!

Episode 33 - It Is What It Is, or Adventures in Tautology

Karen had an obligation and Joseph and I were suddenly aware of not being prepared.
So this is more of a stream of consciousness episode.
Books, TV, Comics, Life and a cocktail...it's all here.

And we are also filled with questions.  Feel free to give us answers!

Thank you for listening and catch you next week!

oh yeah!
Delilah Dawson is out of Georgia - thank you Joseph.

Episode 32 - David Hasselhoff Is Not Mentioned

Karen, Joseph, and I get together and in general wing-it!

Joseph gives us the skinny on the D23 convention - and for those of you know don't know, that is some sort of Disney thing.

Karen shares a new author that she enjoys - an author whose work she has not read yet.

I start casting my black-hole of talent movie.

And somehow, we talk about football and yachting.

of course that isn't all.  There is Buffy, Project Runway, Jordan Summers needs women, cocktails and other stuff.

Listen, enjoy, and leave comments!

and as always, thank you.

(oh, and you may notice - how can you not? - that we are back to having sound problems.  This is what happens when you are focusing on getting all the microphones to work and not on the actual sound.  Just gotta fix those mikes, darn it)

Episode 31 - Holy Guacamole, Do We Talk About Vampires!

We all get together on the porch, since Karen is between abodes right now.

Things start out normal, but then come the vampires and they take over the joint!

Dracula.

Buffy, the Vampire Slayer.

Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles.

I am Legend.

Blade.

The Hunger.

Count Duckula.

White Wolf's Vampire the Masquerade.

Musicals.

I even figure out a Super Pet of the Week (although the vampires sucked out almost all our bumpers!)

of course there is other stuff too...like Project Runway, Doctor Who announcements, and plenty else.

thank you for listening and feel free to leave comments.  And help Karen and I understand the alure of Buffy - Joseph has sadly tried but I am resistant, I guess.

Episode 30 - Joseph Went to San Diego Comic Con and We Stayed Jealous

Hey, I just realized that somehow we skipped episode 1 and 20.  I wonder what we should do about that...

Anyway, Joseph is back from San Diego Comic Con and he has stories!
Smurfs!
Beware the Batman!
Gini Koch!
Cartoon Network!
LGBT Comics!
Superman vs. Batman!
Sergio Aragones!
Leanard Maltin!

Plus crackpot theories with the Legion of Super-Heroes, an Inhuman introduction to a superpet, sexy talk of Jordan Summers, and Joseph reacts to Project Runway.  Oh, and some traveling pants make a mention.
And we love Delilah the Horn Bill at the San Diego Zoo!

oh, and the correct names/words are Mycroft Holmes, "dearth", and Diedrich Bader -- insert where needed.

Episode 29 - It's All Fun and Game Till Somebody Loses an Eye - Then It Is Comedy Gold

Joseph is in San Diego Comic Con, so Karen and I are left to hold down the fort by ourselves.  And Karen is prepared (and I think trying to fill Joseph's absense with an eyeroll or two.)

Let's see...what comes up...
Men's Pants
Krull
Hunger Games
Battle Royale
Leaking Strip Clubs
Project Runway
Pontypool
Pancakes
and I also give a Primer on Table-Top gaming - what's the difference between Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, and Harry Potter Monopoly?  I try to tell you.
And of course, so much more...

And next week Joseph will be back and we will regale you with Comic Con news!

(oh yeah, and all you table-toppers out there - yes, i know that my primer was a bit simplified.  Yes I am aware that more categories could be divided out, such as children's and educational games.  And yes I am aware that you can have a themed game system like Mu, or a non-themed non-system, like backgammon.  But for the sake of trying to keep simple an already potentially confusing segment, I didn't want to go there.  You know how that goes...)

Episode 28 - Sometimes Much More Geek Than Gay

Karen has never seen "Mudd's Women"!
I can't believe it!

Anyway, we are together another week and this time there were cookies!

I go on about Trinity War in the New DC Universe (NewU) and toss out a crack-pot theory tied in with the Legion of Super-Heroes, before I launch into the New Quantum & Woody title.  And guess what bouncing Marvel kitty is the Super-pet of the week!
Joseph reveals his trip to San Diego Comic Con with Gini Koch and his busy week with Joshua Tree and in a wedding dress.
Karen makes her mother bake cookies and doesn't cry during Pixar's "Up".
And there is a bunch of comments about the abandoned "Wonder Woman" pilot.  Did we like it? (The answer "yes" is not an option here)

And there is other stuff of course, including the announcement of an impending contest!

Thanks for listening and tell a friend!

Episode 27 - Life in a Time Warp

Well, it has been two weeks - or more, or less, depending on when you listened.

Episode 25, The Trilogy - Maybe it was all a Dream- a Tommy Wiseau Production

Quick!  Place your bets on how long it takes before I stop the recording for a bathroom break!

Anyway, this episode is proof that joseph and I am need to get more sleep.  I cna't even guess how many things we ended up talking about.  I don't think there is a subject that reached its natural end - new subjects just pop up in their place.  And I did a horrible job of monitoring the sound; unlike what I say in the intro, it was more than just Karen's mike.  And that overlap at the beginning was pure my bad.

So what do we talk about?
-- Charity Money and No Cake (it was a lie, I tells ya)
-- The Joys of Apartment Hunting
     -- Ex Drama
     -- Unspoken Announcements
     -- The Doctor Who/AbFab Connection
     -- Mutant Disco Diva, Dazzler
     -- Comic Book Book Club
-- Unbridled Love of Xanadu, and its Unrequested Unfilmed Sequel
     -- Superman Shaky-Cam
     -- And so much More!

Thank you all for your support.  We are steadily growing every week!  Tell all your friends and we can grow into a mighty mighty army of tens and tens of Geekaroos!

Episode 24, The Movie Sequel - Almost Appropriate For Families, a Farrelly Bros. Production

And the gang is all here as Karen joins our happy team.
We introduce Karen, bring you up to date on our lives, then talk Star Trek, Alien, Tonys, Quantum & Woody, In the Flesh, and plenty of other goodies.
We also discuss my problem with fantasy and whether or not someone would kidnap a plant.

The math monkeys make a quick appearance as well.

I would also like to thank you all for helping make the last episode by far the most successful one yet.  I hope this is a sign that my changes were successful and we can just keep on growing together!

(what would a podcast be without a technical difficulty? So, we are still working on getting the microphones balanced, and there is a little bit at the very very end that when I tried to cut it, it currupted the sound on the rest of the audio.  Grrrr.)

Episode 23, the Movie - Phoenix ComicCon 13, a Peter Jackson Production

You Lucky People!
You are so getting your money's worth here!
This is the extra-sized re-launch of the show!  New theme!  New co-host (with one more coming)! Details about Phoenix Comic Con, including dirty talking, Dean Cain, Nichelle Nichols, John Barrowman molesting a marine, fire evacuations, Gini Koch, Star Trek Continues, and much much more!
And I am sure there is a kitten or two involved.

There are even clips of the con - although I got the sound almost straightened out here, the sound from the con was unpredictable at best, so earphones might be best.  (and yes, you are not going crazy - the sound does disappear for about two minutes.  It gets better, so stick with it. And I don't know why the song at the end cuts out all the sudden.)

I just remembered about the last clip.  We comment on a clip from YouTube (called "Star Spangled Banner Cymbal Fail" available here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opiMHTaUEaA ) but I forgot to describe what is happening.  essentially a kid plays a cymbal, the handle breaks, and he then decides to put down the other half of the cymbal and salute the flag for the rest of the anthem.  And then our thoughts follow.  I don't normally put clips like this into the show, so it slipped my mind to describe it.  Sorry.

Thank you so much for listening and supporting the show.  And catch you next Monday with another bonus video podcast to introduce our other cohost, Karen!

And if you get a chance, check out www.jtfp.org to find out what the guys at Joshua Tree (the non-profit organization that helps people with HIV and AIDS with food) are up to.

Leave comments and I will read them voraciously!  And if you have an iTunes account and can give me a 5-star review on this new direction, that would be great as well!
